DVD File Organisation Tutorial

To get the best out of Warm Tide's mixing and mastering services it is important to plan your files effectively. On the CD/DVD you send to us should be a folder for every artist, within that a folder for every album, and within that a folder for every song. Within the song folder should be all the .wav audio files clearly labelled with the title of what instrument it is and number prefixed to it, for example 1_Bass Drum.wav or 3_Hi-Hat.wav.

Here is an example of a well labelled folder:

Note: It can also be useful to label the files with mic technique and what mics were used this is especially useful when there are multiple mics on one instrument for example:

9_Bass Guit Close D112

10_Bass Guit D.I

It is also important that all the .wavs are synchronised to the same length before exporting from your sequencer. This is so that Warm Tide's audio engineers know that they can insert all files at the start of the sequencers session and know they will all be in sync. This process is called consolidation, and without it the mixing process is almost impossible!

If you are unsure about anything in this article, or require help with another sequencing program, please e-mail us at enquiries@warmtide.co.uk or call Pete Dowsett on 075400 67375
